Parents rarely log into portals. They respond to notifications. An app that sends 'your child was marked absent today' or 'tomorrow's homework has been posted' needs nothing from the parent, while a portal needs them to remember, open and navigate. Consistency matters more than features
If homework appears in the app on some days and not others, parents cannot tell whether there was none or whether it was not posted, and they go back to asking their child. Decide the daily routine first (attendance by a fixed time, homework before the end of the school day) and measure compliance. A reliable channel with three features beats an unreliable one with twelve.
Per-student subscription pricing looks small but grows with enrolment, and several charges tend to sit outside the quote: setup, data migration, SMS or WhatsApp messaging, the mobile app and training.
